MEXICAN EMERGENCY CONTACT TELEPHONE NUMBER REQUIREMENTS

Clarification on Mexico’s Rules for Emergency Response

DGAC has further examined the requirement to include a telephone number answerable in Mexico for emergency response purposes in accordance with NOM-005 as discussed below.

Under this NOM, emergency response information may be provided on a separate form specific to the material or the emergency response information may be provided through provision of the North American Emergency Response Guidebook.

The requirement for a telephone number answerable in Mexico is satisfied by including a number on the form or by the use of the NAERG which in the back of the 2012 edition includes numbers for SETIQ and CENACOM. No separate number is required on the bill of lading.
